Digestive Issues
The digestion system is arguably the most important system that we need to care for in our bodies. It is an energy generator and stabilizer for the entire body. A healthy, functioning digestive system provides the body's natural ability to heal itself of all disease. Long-term weakness of this system is the main contributing factor to chronic disease.
TCM holds that a healthy, balanced diet is key to our overall gut health. It envisions the stomach as a cooking pot. So the food is partly broken down by the cooking process within this pot. Since a pot requires fire or heat to cook food, it is best to avoid cold and raw foods. We recommend lightly steamed vegetables as a staple in the diet. During the colder seasons, more soups and stews aid in the digestive process.
It doesn’t just stop at what you put into your body, but also matters how you eat and how you treat meal times. One such example is eating while sitting is always better than standing. One thing to avoid is eating on the go or while trying to complete other tasks.
We strongly recommend going for eating locally and organically, while avoiding chemicals and processed foods.
Signs of poor digestion can be as follows: poor hair, nail and skin health. Stomach aches, bloating, fatigue, gas, diarrhea and constipation.
